Meet the Team: South Australia State Manager
Introducing Luke, our dynamic State Manager in South Australia! With a clinical background in sleep and respiratory sciences after originally studying Behavioural Science (Psychology), Luke worked at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital in the Sleep Disorders Unit for a number of years supporting clinical and research studies, before moving into a commercial role with Philips Electronics, managing sleep apnea clinics across Australia. He was most recently the Operations Manager for the not-for-profit organisation, Kidsafe SA, before joining National 360 in 2021.
Luke is a energetic leader who loves interacting with clients and support coordinators, and supporting therapists to deliver the best service possible for clients, whilst also growing, developing, and having fun as well.
Learn more about our South Australia State Manager, Luke, his background, why he joined National 360, advice he has for clinicians wanting to work in the NDIS, and a fun fact (which is awesome!) by reading our full interview with him below.
Why did you want to work in the Allied Health space?
I am passionate about service delivery, and I’m especially passionate about supporting people who provide service delivery! I’m a people-person, so it’s fantastic to be in an industry and a role where I can combined my love of leading people with the strategic and operational sides of service delivery.
When did you start working at National 360, and why did you want to join the company?
I started at National 360 as the South Australia State Manager in June 2021 and was struck by how closely the role of State Manager seemed to align with the things that I love doing, and the areas I know that I am strong in. The quality of the people I interacted with throughout the recruitment process stood out to me, and the vision of National 360 as a whole resonated with me too: we build great Teams of people, and we support each other to deliver the best quality of supports to people in our community living with disability.
What do you love most about working at National 360?
The people. In some ways I got lucky – when I joined in 2021 there were already so many wonderful people here, but it’s also intentional – we actively try to bring in people that align with our culture and values, and as a result it is a fantastic place to work where we can grow personally as well as professionally, and have a lot of fun along the way.
What has been a highlight of time working at National 360, so far?
I don’t mean to brag, but I was the proud winner of the “Mr. Coffee Run” award in 2022, awarded by my SA Team at our Christmas party in December. It was a proud moment for me and my family, and it was humbling and satisfying to be recognised for my hard work after a big year drinking hundreds of delicious almond lattes.
What does your role as South Australia State Manager involve?
Our State Managers are responsible for every aspect of the National 360 business on a local level. It’s my job to make sure our SA Team is supported, developing, growing, performing, having fun, and delivering services at the highest level. I get amazing support from every department in the business to help me manage all operational aspects of our SA business, including our local office, HR matters, recruitment, marketing, relationships with referrers, clinical processes, finances, Team development, social events and much more! Most importantly I love drinking coffee and chatting to people and I get to do plenty of that too!
Do you have any advice for someone who is considering working in the NDIS space?
Embrace every challenge that comes up each day and embrace the enormous amount of support that is available at National 360. Working in the community supporting NDIS clients is one of the most dynamic, flexible, challenging, and impactful roles I’ve ever come across. You will learn so much about your profession, about life, and about yourself!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I was lucky enough to visit Antarctica in January which was a lifelong dream of mine. To stand on the great white continent amongst penguins, and to kayak around icebergs while humpback whales breached nearby was simply incredible.
