Clinical Assessment & Advisory Services for Children

Understanding your child is the first step to supporting them well. Our clinical assessments are designed to build a clear, holistic picture of how your child is developing - their strengths, their needs, and the goals that matter most to your family.

These assessments can be initiated by parents, educators, GPs or other professionals supporting a child’s development, ensuring the right insights are available to guide support and next steps.

Delivered by experienced allied health professionals across Australia, 360 Kids assessments are practical, evidence-based, built around real life, and conducted where your child learns, plays and grows.

What Are Clinical Assessment & Advisory Services?

Clinical Assessment and Advisory Services are designed to support functional assessment, outcome-focused planning, and evidence-informed intervention for children with disability, developmental delays, or complex needs.

Our assessments are delivered by qualified allied health professionals including speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and behaviour support practitioners. They can be conducted as individual or multidisciplinary assessments depending on your child’s needs.

Whether your family is navigating the NDIS or other funding pathways, our clinical team provides the assessment, documentation, and advisory support to help your child thrive.

What's Included in a Clinical Assessment?

Our clinical assessments are comprehensive and child-centred. Depending on your child’s needs, an assessment may include:

Comprehensive Functional Assessment

A thorough assessment across the key developmental domains that matter for your child’s everyday life:

  • Communication: receptive and expressive language, speech intelligibility, and social communication
  • Motor skills: gross motor development, fine motor skills, and physical coordination
  • Social and emotional functioning: self-regulation, relationships, and behaviour in context
  • Adaptive functioning: daily living skills, independence, and participation

Assessments draw on standardised tools, clinical observation, and collaborative information-gathering from families and other professionals involved in the child’s care.

Strengths, Needs and Areas of Concern

We identify not just where support is needed, but what your child is already doing well. Assessment findings are contextualised within your child’s family, cultural background, and everyday environments including home, early learning, and school settings.

This strengths-based approach ensures intervention planning is meaningful, realistic, and genuinely connected to your child’s life.

Family-Centred Planning

Parents and carers are active participants throughout the assessment process. We make time to understand:

  • Your family’s priorities, goals and aspirations for your child
  • Your child’s daily routines, interests, and what motivates them
  • The challenges and barriers your family experiences day-to-day

This collaboration ensures our findings and recommendations reflect what matters most to the people who know your child best.

Where Are Assessments Conducted?

Wherever possible, assessments are conducted in the natural environments where your child spends their time:

  • At home
  • In early learning or childcare settings
  • At school
  • In clinic (where appropriate)
  • Via telehealth (where appropriate)

Naturalistic assessment settings give clinicians the most accurate picture of a child’s functioning and participation in real-world contexts.

Advisory Services

In addition to direct assessment, our clinical team provides advisory support to families, carers, and the broader team around your child. Advisory services may include:

  • Consultation and capacity-building with parents, carers, and educators
  • Recommendations for environmental modifications and reasonable adjustments
  • Clinical guidance to support NDIS planning, funding reviews, or goal-setting
  • Collaboration with other health professionals, early intervention teams, and schools
  • Preparation of written clinical reports, functional assessments, and goal summaries

Who Is This For?

Clinical assessment and advisory services are suitable for children who:

Have a diagnosed disability, developmental delay, or complex health needs

Are experiencing challenges in communication, learning, movement, behaviour, or daily living

Require assessment to support access to appropriate funding, services or care pathways

Are transitioning between services, schools, or life stages

Require a clear clinical picture to guide intervention planning

We support children from early childhood and can work alongside existing supports to complement the care your child is already receiving.
